Our weekend

went by very quickly -- too quickly!

We arrived early to Alex's party and started to "look busy"... Uyen even gave us aprons to make it more official.  We didn't do much really.  Poor Ed was running around cooking and prepping food while Uyen ran around taking care of the children and guests!  (MG took this took, hence the angle!)
Alex celebrated his 8th birthday... and I finally finished his shirt:

Baby sister, Emily, celebrated her one month... and after staying up a bit later than I expected... she finally received her baby quilt!

And a bonus shirt!!!  (That is where we all met.  Vince and Ed were roommates.  Uyen and I were sort of roommates - long story short, she moved in and took my place when I graduated and left the apartment.  To this day, I just say she and I were roommates - we should have been!).  It turned out so cute.. I may be making more for the family!  :)

I loved how it came out!

Sunday found us out and about...we tried out a new kabob place, then went for a scooter ride at Alum Rock Park  and then back home for dinner  (Vince and my cousin sat smelling the BBQs burning at the park and began discussing dinner... guess what they wanted?)
Yep... BBQ -- park inspiration!
and these trouble makers were finally able to enjoy some water play!  It was finally hot enough for the children to play with their water squirters!  FUN!
Funny story... they were squirting each other, right? So I suggested they squirt the trees (kill 2 birds with 1 stone kind of a deal)... and so they turned toward the trees and started squirting.  Then all of a sudden the neighbors in the back (whom we don't know) began squirting water back!  We all started laughing along with the person squirting us from the other side!  It was fun until we heard a booming adult voice yelling at the person squirting us!  Oooops!  Guess he wasn't supposed to be turning the hose on us!  (A HOSE!!! LOL)  Well, not wanting the person to get in trouble, I yelled, "Sorry we started it!"  Then the dad (?) said it was okay and was laughing at us.  But he did remind the child (who was quiet this entire time!) to not play with the hose. LOL!
Funny... Oh well. it was fun while it lasted!
A great weekend....
What do you have planned for Mother's Day weekend?!

Happy Belated (very belated) Birthday Ryan!

I'm "usually" pretty good with getting gifts out on time... really, I am!  But lately, I've been a bit behind... lack of sleep, lack of motivation, lack of energy... whatever my excuses... i need to get back on track!  My poor nephew's birthday was back in February...Almost 3 months later, I have his gift ready...  It's going to be dropped off at the post office tomorrow morning!
Ryan, you won't be reading this (thank goodness!)... but here you go, Buddy!  Happy belated (very belated) 3rd birthday!

 I think you are "super"!!!!
I made big brother, Peter, a shirt too... but I had to make some adjustments when Vince and I looked at the picture and saw an alien in it... you just have to believe me on this one.
Do you know the character Latios from Pokemon?  I did not until Peter requested that character for his shirt...  So, here he is (sans alien):
I love making these freezer paper shirts!  Thanks Amanda Soule for starting my addiction!  You can find directions in her book although there are so many other tutorials out on the internet too!

While MG and her class went on a field trip to the Campbell Historical Museum, the boys and I went to Gilroy Gardens.
He went on this very dizzy ride all by himself!  (and had a blast!)
This is on the rainbow Gardens ride.  It's like "It's a Small World" in Disneyland but way smaller scale!  We floated down a small river....
saw some beautiful flowers and and topiaries  (yup, that's him - never a "normal" smile!),
This was their favorite - a bear topiary bending down to get a drink of water.  When the ride goes by you hear the sound of a bear growling but not in a mean aggressive way, just a frustrated way.  He's almost asking for help to get a drink of water!  LOL
After that ride, they wanted a snack - which eventually turned into lunch...
Then it was back to the rides!  MD is driving us here in an old fashion car.
Now E is driving MD and me.  We are sitting in the back seat.
MD approves of E's driving skills!
Oh -- BIG news -- MD has a loose tooth!!!  All from taking a VERY hard bite out of his corn on the cob!  Yep, that's the story...  He doesn't wriggle it too often though - which is good.  I'm not ready for him to have one less tooth right now.  He's growing up waaay too quickly!
Before going home, E discovered this ride.  Although he planned on taking a green car, it was already taken by another child by the time he got in... so he settled for the red #1 car...
After the first ride was over, he asked to go again.. and this time the green car was finally available!!!!  He loves green!
Great day at Gilroy Gardens!

A gift for Emily

We are going to visit Baby Emily pretty soon... so I began making her freeze paper onesies.  I had so much fun picking out the logos!  And since she is the first girl in this family.. I wanted to do a girly theme - princess, dragonflies (my favorite), and yummy cupcakes... because I'm sure I'll want to eat her up when I see her!

I traced, cut out, and ironed on the freezer paper logos:
MG and I bought this last year and now I can finally try it out!  Glitter... can't get more girly!!!  (the white bottle is a special glue you apply on before sprinkling the glitter).
This one is the glitter experiment:
This one is an actual glittery fabric paint:
And this last one is just plain paint:  (but I have to admit this is my favorite!)
 And the end results:
I thought this princess crown turned out really cute.
Although I like the dragonfly, I'm not sure the work was worth the outcome... The crown above turned out cute and I didn't have to fuss with special glue and getting glitter everywhere!  (Just my opinion....)
This turned out super cute and I think I'm going to go back to plain, regular fabric paint!  :)
I am so excited to see Emily!!!!!  Pictures to follow afterwards, of course!
